I’m Naureen Kamdar Mohammed, author of this blog, Supermoms Wear Stilettos. I am a native-Texan, born in Dallas, and now living in Houston with my husband Faris, and three beautiful little girls, Aiza, Rania and Zahra.
For as long as I can remember, writing has been a passion through every phase of my life. As I strive to find a balance between my own identity and the increasingly impossible expectations of moms today, I was craving a creative outlet where I could sort out all my thoughts. Thus Supermoms Wear Stilettos was born.
I chose this name as a fun way to represent women who make a conscious effort to not lose their identity or lust for life after having kids. In my eyes, a supermom is not the person who is Pinterest-perfect and better at raising children than others. It is the woman who makes time for her needs, interests and happiness through the numerous sacrifices that parenthood demands and remains positive through the daily (and nightly!) chaos that comes with caring for and raising and amazing children. It is the woman who is fabulous and brave enough to pull out her stilettos – at a time in her life when it’s easier to just give up and adopt wearing flats!
Follow along as I share honest and humorous glimpses of my life and experiences, talk about real issues and concerns and mix in plenty of fabulosity to keep things fun and fresh. I hope to inspire my readers to be the best version of themselves and to become more comfortable with being “real” in a world where staging perfection has become a norm.
