The Slide Sandal Has Risen.

The hubs is perplexed by how I don’t get sick of phone-window shopping every night when I can’t sleep. But there are so many interesting styles and trends out right now, that it’s addictive to see what version each store or brand is offering! The most baffling of these new trends to me has to be the “Slide Sandal” or the “Pool Slide Sandal”.

Like, are you serious? This is a thing? A thing enough for luxury brands like Ferragamo, YSL, Gucci, Chanel, Miu Miu, D&G and several others to be coming out with $500 versions of it?


Back in the day, when generally only Nike and Adidas were making these rubbery sole sensations – we literally treated them as pool sandals or theme park sandals. Or, if you’re of Pakistani descent like me, it was even known as the “Bathroom chappal (flip flop)” – for those disgustingly wet tile floors that were unavoidable in large joint families. Now, you’re paying hundreds of dollars for that same shoe to make a style statement. Unbelievable – what a lifetime success story for the bathroom chappal! Maybe it should go give a Ted Talk or something.

Now, places like Aldo, Steve Madden and Topshop have cute little versions of it for $30-$70. Much more reasonable, if you’re digging the trend. But it still is kind of humorous to see these sandals with bows and pearls and other “cute” embellishments because it just doesn’t go together in my head.

I will say this though. If you’re looking to add a fun, trendy pop to any simple mommy outfit for the day – this definitely is a solid option this year. A quick run to the grocery store, a play place, Chick Fil A, etc. It’s visually interesting on the feet, comfortable, and super easy to clean up if they get dirty!
