Moms Ramadan Reflections – Day 10: Back-Stabbing Toddlers

Had an incident with a red light this morning on the way to school, and the girls were so excited to share it with each and every teacher they walked past as they headed to their classroom. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And then they turned around with big goober smiles and waved goodbye.

Sigh, gotta love those back-stabbing rugrats!

Innocence and brutal honesty “out of the mouth of babes” are among the characteristics we cherish in our children, but boy can it bite us in the butt sometimes….Especially when they open their big mouths in public!

But what this does is serves as a very important reminder: that we should be mindful of our speech and actions at all times. Because just like our children are watching us closely – so is God. Not only do we have a responsibility to be good examples to our children, but we also need to be mindful of our behavior out of respect to our Creator. He has given all of us a job in this world – something even bigger than our careers and family roles – to excel in our personal attributes and to serve humanity and treat each other with kindness, graciousness, mercy, justice and reason. And isn’t that the kinda place we want our kids to grow up in? Aren’t these the values we want them to embody?

So the next time you’re doing something that you don’t want your kiddos to either emulate or rat out to the world – take a step back and examine if you should be doing it at all in the first place!
